Students who are deemed competent will receive RII60320 Advanced Diploma of Underground Coal Mining Management. This is recognised as a qualifying course for sitting the statutory exams for mine manager in both New South Wales and Queensland. The 13 units of competency in this course are nationally recognised. There are 10 core units plus at 3 electives to do to be awarded this qualification.
Course Duration
Typically, the volume of learning is 1.5 to 2 years (1800 to 2400 hours). The course duration  depends on how quickly a candidate can work through the study guides and assessment guides and in turn demonstrate competence.

Course Overview
This qualification reflects the role of individuals, including mine managers or mining engineering managers, who perform complex, nonroutine tasks involving strategic and planning activities for underground coal mines. They are responsible for establishing and maintaining operational systems and plans, including safety and health, environmental and management systems, providing leadership and mentoring to others, and understanding and management requirements for mine sites.
